Ductless HVAC Leak

If you don’t address leaks from your ductless HVAC system quickly, a tiny leak may eventually cause significant damage to both your mini-split and floors. Of course, to adequately respond to such a problem, homeowners in Mountain City, GA, must first know what causes it. Here are a few things that might make water leak from your ductless mini-split system:

Airflow Obstructions

The indoor portion of your ductless mini-split system consists of a series of air handler units, each of which heats and cools a specific zone in your home. Since treated air moves into your home through these units, it’s essential to ensure that air can freely flow through them. Debris-covered air filters are the most common impediments to such airflow.

As dirt and other kinds of gunk gather on the filters, they will eventually prevent air from flowing as freely as it might otherwise. Consequently, air won’t be able to pass over the coils in the air handler unit, causing the temperature in the immediate vicinity to drop.

This may freeze any stray condensation in the area. Later, when the system goes into defrost mode and melts that ice, water may leak out one or more of your air handlers.

To prevent leaks, don’t allow your mini-split system’s filters to become too dirty. We advise you to clean them about once every two weeks.

Drain Pan Damage

Normally, your mini-split system should direct any condensate that forms in its air handlers into drain pans. If these pans rust or break, water may drip through them and land on your floor. Luckily, our HVAC service technicians can fix or replace drain pans during ductless maintenance.

Drain Line Obstructions

After getting into your ductless HVAC system’s drain pan, condensate should move into the drain line and eventually go into the sewer or ground. Sadly, debris may also block your drain line. If this happens, water won’t be able to flow away and may overfill your pan.

Our team has the skills to end your HVAC-related water leaks. Call Radlee Heating and Cooling to receive the best ductless HVAC services around Mountain City, GA.
